Privacy Policy
Effective September 4, 2026
Information we collect
Account and profile information: your email address, and any display name, bio, or avatar you choose to add.
Item photographs: photos you take or select when scanning an item.
Scan results and AI-generated identification: the identification, estimated value range, and supporting details QuixVision generates from your photos.
Inventory information: items you save, including bins/locations, notes, and purchase prices you enter.
Billing information: your plan tier, subscription status, and billing period dates. Complete payment-card numbers are handled directly by Stripe — see "Payment processing" below.
Marketplace connection information: if you connect eBay, Etsy, or Shopify, we store the connection and the access tokens needed to publish listings on your behalf. We don't see your marketplace account password.
Device, browser, and diagnostic information: standard web request information such as browser type and IP address, and minimal server logs used to operate and secure the service.
Where this information comes from
Directly from you (signup, photos, notes you enter, support messages), automatically from your device and browser during normal use, and from marketplaces you choose to connect (basic account/listing information needed to publish on your behalf).
Why we use this information
To identify items and generate value estimates, to let you save and organize what you scan, to provide and bill for subscriptions, to publish listings you choose to prepare, to keep the app secure and working correctly, and to respond when you contact us.
AI processing of photographs
When you scan an item, its photos are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the item and generate a value estimate. This processing is necessary for FlipQuix's core scanning feature to work. Photos remain stored in FlipQuix's own storage under the access controls described in our Security page.
Payment processing
Payment information is processed by Stripe. FlipQuix does not directly store complete payment-card numbers.
Service providers we share information with
We share information with the service providers necessary to run FlipQuix, each processing it on our behalf to provide their part of the service: Supabase (authentication, database, and photo storage), Stripe (payment processing), Anthropic (item identification), Vercel (application hosting), and, if you connect one, the marketplace you choose (eBay, Etsy, or Shopify).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes. The sharing described above is solely so these service providers can perform the function we've engaged them for.
Legal and safety disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of FlipQuix, our users, or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information under the new ownership.
Cookies and local storage
FlipQuix uses cookies and local storage required for authentication (keeping you signed in) and basic site functionality. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't run analytics or advertising scripts.
Retention
We keep your account information and scan history for as long as your account remains active, so the app can continue to work the way you expect. Billing records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes. Server logs are kept briefly for security and troubleshooting, then routinely cleared. When you delete your account, we remove your account data other than what we're required to keep for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes, and any copies remaining in routine backups age out on our normal backup cycle.
Subscription consent and acknowledgment records
When you start a paid subscription, we record your express consent to automatic monthly renewal, and we record the acknowledgment we send you confirming the renewal and cancellation terms. California's Automatic Renewal Law (Business and Professions Code sections 17601-17606) requires businesses to obtain that consent and to keep verification of it.
Purpose: to evidence that you agreed to recurring billing, on which terms, and at what price, and to evidence that we sent you the required confirmation.
What these records contain: your account identifier, the plan you chose, the exact price, the currency and monthly billing interval, which version of the disclosure wording you were shown, the date and time you consented, the Stripe Checkout Session identifier, the email address the acknowledgment was sent to, and its delivery status. They do not contain card numbers, payment details, or billing addresses — Stripe handles payment information and we never receive or store it.
Email processor: acknowledgment emails are delivered by Resend, our email service provider, which processes the recipient address and message content for that purpose.
Retention: we keep these records for at least three years, or one year after your subscription ends, whichever is longer, as the law requires.
These records survive account deletion. Unlike your scans, inventory, and photos, they are not deleted when you delete your account, and they are not anonymized — an anonymous record could not evidence that a particular person consented. After the retention period above has passed, we delete or anonymize them.
Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Delete Account, after confirming by typing DELETE. This cancels any active subscription immediately and permanently removes your scans, inventory, photos, avatar, and marketplace connections.
A limited financial record of past purchases is retained as required for accounting and tax purposes. Those purchase records are anonymized — the identifying link to your account is removed.
Separately, subscription consent and acknowledgment records are retained in identifiable form and are NOT anonymized. California's Automatic Renewal Law requires us to keep verification of your consent to automatic billing, so these records deliberately survive account deletion. See “Subscription consent and acknowledgment records” below.
If you can't access the app, see flipquix.com/delete-account or email privacy@flipquix.com to request deletion.
Security
We use the technical measures described on our Security page to protect your information.
California privacy rights
If you're a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to know what personal information we've collected about you, request its deletion, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising — which, as described above, we don't do. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@flipquix.com.
Children
FlipQuix is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
International users
FlipQuix's service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. By using FlipQuix, you understand your information may be processed outside your country of residence.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FlipQuix changes. We'll update the effective date at the top of this page when we do, and where a change is material, we'll provide additional notice such as an in-app or email notification.
